Poetry Central - entrance

I selected (and will progressively add) a number of poems by Marot, which are either very popular, or which I think worthwhile. I grouped them on several pages according to their genre. You can easily access them following the links in the navigation menu on the left...

Translations into English are added (if available), sometimes poetical (made by other poets), sometimes only to help you understand. Occurring errors in translation are entirely my fault... Sorry, 16th century French is not always that simple, esp. when a poet plays with words and double meaning. Suggestions for improvement are welcome.

There is a special subdivision with poems by Marot translated into Dutch in the Golden Age of the Dutch Republic [Nederlandse vertalingen], translations by Lucas d'Heere, H.L. Spiegel, and Roemer Visscher.
